BYOV (or Bring Your Own Vanitas) is an art curatorship project that is an observation of what constitutes an exhibition and how the line between curator/artist/spectator can blur.

Inspired by the still life sub-genre that is Vanitas and by participatory art, the exhibition invites the attendants to become the artist by leaving objects on a table that they consider “vanities” and signify a moment in time that might caused them happiness or bliss, therefore building a vanitas little by little with every person that comes.

Other than that, it takes the passage of time as a key element of the exhibition by creating a time capsule that shows what people considered a “vanity” at this day and age while also observing the passage of time throughout the time of the exhibition by not interfering with the objects left by the attendants.
